First days

첫 며칠

After childbirth, mom and baby would stay at the hospital for two nights unless there’s further complications. We’ve had a few visitors—thanks for coming by!—and mostly just relaxed while there. Hana was tiny and adorable, and kept on sleeping. Watching her sleep in front of our eyes and feeling her warmth in our arms, we could really viscerally feel that we now are parents. Such a lovely, vulnerable, and fragile little being in our care—how precious and what a responsibility!

출산후 별다른 의료 상황이 발생하지 않으면 산모와 신생아는 2박 3일간 병원에 머물다 귀가합니다. 영미 지인 몇 분이 축하하러 들렀다 가셨던 것을 제외하고는 그저 푹 쉬면서 기운을 차리는데 집중하는 시간이었지요. 초음파 사진으로만 보다가 드디어 직접 만나게 된 꼬마 하나는 정말 너무나도 작고 예뻤고, 계속 잠만 잤답니다. 쌕쌕 잠들어 있는 아기를 보고 그 따뜻한 온기를 느끼고 있자니, 아 정말로 우리가 부모가 되었구나 하는 실감이 들더군요. 우리가 이렇게 작고 연약하고 아름다운 새 생명을 보살피게 되었다니, 막중하기 이를데 없는 책임감이 느껴지면서도 말할 수 없이 소중한 기분이었습니다.
